The Mayo Clinic states that “Stress symptoms may be affecting your health, even though you might not realize it. Often, we blame poor eating habits or lack of exercise as the main root of our symptoms such as these, but it seems that stress might be an additional reason for possible symptoms. We all have symptoms of stress, but we shouldn’t be so quick to shrug that off as the cost of living in today’s world. In Dr. Susan Heitler’s article in Psychology Today, she recommends three steps to problem-solve stress. Dr. Heitler states, “My #1 technique for dissipating stress is to solve the problem that is producing the stress. Unlike most stress-reduction methods, solving the problem removes stress at its roots.” (Heitler, 2017). Dr. Heitler’s recommendation makes a lot of sense. Rather than trying to mask the problem or the symptoms of stress, her plan of attack is actually addressing the underlying issue with problem-solving. Dr. Heitler’s three steps are straightforward and easy to implement, making them an ideal way to take action against stress. Three Steps to Address Stress

Dr. Heitler’s first recommended step is “Face it”. She states, “Problem-solving begins with turning around to squarely face the problem that is causing the stress. Stress, like anxiety, generally indicates that you are aware of a problem but not focused yet resolving it. Facing the problem squarely launches thinking about what to do about it.” Her second step is to, “Clarify your specific concerns.” Lastly, she recommends, “Create a plan of action.” Dr. Heitler elaborates, “Let’s review the three steps of problem-solving. The first step is to identify the situation that is triggering your stress. You may then have to do some seriously insightful thinking to clarify your underlying concerns. Lastly, it makes take some major creative thinking to come up with a plan of action that will satisfy your concerns.” (Heitler, 2017).

Sounds like a good plan of attack to reduce and eradicate stress. Let’s say that you realize that the main root of your stress is your timeshare.
